Abstract:
In ecosystems, viability is dependent on a diversity of processes in scalar levels. This combination of processes provides the eco-services on which the continuation of life depends. In social systems, the viability of community is also dependent on social process, between individuals, in families, within community and at larger scales to create social connectivity and cohesion for societal health and wellbeing. This research introduces the role of psycho-services in large-scale psycho-systems, where conceptual complexity is reflected in the systemic functions of thought.
Emerging and prospective forms of sustainability assessment have an integral role in the functions of a thoughtful society. The various forms (and functioning) of sustainability assessment processes that are available to decision makers can provide an indication of overall psycho-system health. The sustainability practitioner’s challenge is to be aware of the conscious configuration of the essential parts of these forms. This presentation outlines those forms and their role in a sustainable thought-ecology.
